🎹 Rare Antique Lemuel Gilbert Square Grand Piano — Boston, c. 1830s–1850s

An extraordinary piece of American piano history, this Lemuel Gilbert square grand was hand-built in Boston between the 1840s–1850s during the golden age of square grands. Known for their rich tone, fine cabinetry, and elegance. I got this piano with the purchase of my house.

Condition & Playability:
• Original ivory keytops — in good condition (have some wear from being played )
• Original rosewood cabinet with beautiful patina
• Rare cherub harp plate — a high-end feature found only on select Gilbert models from the 1840s onward
• Original pedal assembly and matching hay-filled stool included
• The pedals are not currently hooked up (as shown in pictures) it needs tuning and some work.
• I can provide a video of how it sounds upon request. I don’t know how to upload a video here

Provenance & Care:
• Owned by a single family for generations
• Maintained in a climate-controlled home by a trained pianist
• Never restored, but exceptionally well preserved
• Historic craftsmanship from one of Boston’s most respected 19th-century makers
• Rare combination of playability, originality, and decorative beauty
• Complete ensemble with stool, pedals and ornate harp plate makes it highly collectible
